Jewelry Redesign Story #58: Simple With Details
THE REDESIGN CHALLENGE:
Jill’s grandmother had given her a three stone diamond ring some time ago. Jill loved holding on to the ring and the memories it brought her of her grandma but, unfortunately the ring’s design wasn’t suited to her style. Although she wanted to wear this piece of her grandmother as a reminder of her, she didn’t really want to wear the ring in its current design.
Jill thought it was such a waste not to wear the beautiful diamonds that were such a thoughtful gift that her grandmother had given and was something that they could share across the years.
So, Jill decided to reach out to us at Studio Remod in order to redesign and upgrade the ring so she could have a new-to-her piece of jewelry in her style that she could finally wear and show off her love for her grandmother.
Jill wanted something that would update the design of her grandmother’s ring, which she thought to be a bit old fashioned, but something that was still classic and simple.
THE REDESIGN CONCEPT:

We knew Jill wanted something classic and simple that utilized all three diamonds from her grandmother’s ring. In order to offer Jill even more, we decided to offer her a design with a few additional details on the baskets. Jill really liked our design that offered a cup-like basket that was both clean and modern but with a few additional design flourishes. Although the new design had some details, they weren’t overly complex or attention-grabbing so as to be different from what Jill had originally requested from the redesign according to her tastes.
THE REDESIGN PROCESS:

Because this ring was one that was very simple, we wanted to be certain that everything was absolutely perfect in the details. While details are important in all of our jewelry designs, it is crucial in something without a lot of intricacy to make sure that every single element of a simple design — such as thickness and curvature of the shank — are absolutely perfect and to the taste of the client.
We also needed to be certain that the thickness and shape of the cup-like prongs were thick enough for the diamonds to securely and attractively set.
Once we were certain of our measurements and were pleased with the visual elements of the design, we were ready to cast.
Casting
Once we received the casting we were pleased to see that all of the small details were perfect on our new ring and that it would look as crisp, clean, and classic as Jill wanted but with some unique elements that would make the ring special to her.
THE REDESIGN REVEAL:

Jill was so happy with the ring and loves that it is a piece that she can wear every day. She loves that the ring still is as simple as she wanted but has the subtle design details that make it extra special as a testament to her grandmother.
As always, we’re glad to be able to create a new-to-you ring design that allows customers like Jill to bring their loved ones with them every day. And Jill is happy that now her grandmother is always there with her with this beautiful and simple ring.
