Sarah inherited this ring, featuring a beautiful pink tourmaline stone, from her grandmother. Sarah wanted to maintain the sweet style of the original ring in order to remember her grandmother, but she also wanted to update the ring to reflect her own personal and more modern style.
In order to update the ring Sarah suggested that we add some more sparkles by adding more diamonds to the side and setting of the tourmaline.
initial sketches
We created two sketches for Sarah that featured the tourmaline at the center of the ring with diamonds on the side. One of the designs featured a large diamond on either side of the tourmaline while the other design featured three smaller diamonds on each side of the center stone.
Sarah ended up choosing the design with the three smaller diamonds as she thought it would look more delicate and add more sparkle.
Rhino modeling
The Rhino model was an essential step as each of the seven stones we would be using would be set in prongs. We had to carefully measure the size of the larger prong for the center tourmaline as well as the six smaller prongs for the three diamonds on either side of the ring. We also had to make sure that each prong was long enough to suit the size of the stone that it would hold.
Casting
We usually 3D print our STL file and cast it in 14k rose gold. Then we send it off to our jeweler for setting and polishing and finalizing the piece.
The finished jewelry
Sarah was so pleased with how delicate and sweet this ring turned out to be. She loved that she could be reminded of her grandmother while wearing this ring that both delighted her with its sparkle and was easy to wear daily.
