Beth came to us with her mother’s emerald earrings, which held deep sentimental value. Her mother had been ill and in the hospital for some time, and Beth wanted to carry a piece of her with her—to feel close to her in a meaningful way. Rather than focusing on sadness, she wanted to transform that emotion into something comforting and joyful by creating a new piece from her mother’s jewelry.
It was especially important to Beth to preserve the original design, as her mother wore these earrings often. She wanted the new piece to reflect that familiarity—something that would strongly remind her of her mom.

Sketches
Together, we decided to transform the rose gold emerald clip earrings into a simple band ring, keeping the original earring design as the centerpiece. This allowed the essence of the original piece to remain intact while giving it new life in a form she could wear every day.

Rhino modeling
During the Rhino modeling stage, I ensured that the shank matched the profile, thickness, and width of the original earring element, which now serves as the top of the ring. I also carefully adjusted the model to achieve the correct ring size.

Casting
The casting came out successfully, integrating seamlessly with the ring top.

After completing the ring, I met with Beth to present the piece. She was deeply emotional receiving a ring made from her mother’s earrings and shared that she had been worried she might cry. Seeing her express such heartfelt gratitude and connection to her mom was incredibly moving—it was truly a beautiful moment to witness.
