Before and After
Lydia is a creative force. Previously the creative director at Refinery 29 and now on the Nike editorial team, Lydia is not only creative but also a strong, talented, and good-hearted force to be reckoned with.
Lydia wanted a custom made ring that would honor the loving relationship she shares with her mother. She also wanted a ring that would commemorate her happiness and success in her career and her time in New York which was coming to a close.
Lydia’s mother was very happy when she heard that Lydia was planning to have these special rings made that they could wear together.
Lydia, being the creative person that she is, is very aware of her own personal style and wanted the ring to reflect her modern goth look.
Because Lydia was still based in New York. we were able to meet with her personally to discuss her style interests. We had our first consultation meeting at the Beekman Bar in the Financial District in downtown NYC where we brought her some sketches and ideas.
Lydia looking at design
One of the best parts of being able to meet Lydia in person was that we were not only able to hear her vision but we also had a chance to see her style as it lives on a day-to-day basis. Knowing Lydia’s style and personality was hugely helpful in making a custom design that fit her life.
3D Cad and waxes
After meeting with Lydia and choosing the design direction, we were able to finalize our CAD design and begin wax printing the models.
It’s always exciting to see your designs come alive for the first time with the wax model and even more exciting because Lydia lives in NYC, that we got to share it with her while it was still in progress.
wax model on Lydia (or off)
We were glad that she was as excited as we were. Lydia was able to actually try on the wax rings, which we had even painted so that they would more closely resemble the final rings that would be white gold and black diamond.
After trying on the wax rings and looking at the printed renderings, Lydia was confident that we could proceed with manufacturing the rings.
