Simone approached us with two exquisite diamond rings inherited from her grandmother. These rings were not only beautiful but also provided an abundance of gold and diamonds for redesigning into new jewelry pieces. With her wedding approaching at the end of the year, Simone wanted a stunning pair of diamond cluster earrings to wear on her special day. She also expressed interest in creating two diamond charms for herself and her mom, which I will cover in a future post.
Sketches
During our video design consultation, I presented Simone with various cluster options. After considering the possibilities, she selected two designs for us to finalize in person. Ultimately, we chose to create a pair of center-focused, flowery cluster earrings. We ensured that we had the right sizes and quantities of diamonds to bring this vision to life, and we were fortunate to have just what we needed.
Rhino modeling
Using Rhino CAD software, I crafted a model to prepare for casting with the appropriate diamond sizes and quantities. With excellent materials ready, we moved forward with confidence. To ensure the earrings wouldn’t be too heavy, I paid careful attention to the amount of metal used in the design while modeling in Rhino.
Casting
Once the casting was done, I was pleased to find that the earrings had the perfect weight—not too heavy, but just right for comfortable wear.
